Hopefully you all found my baking tips and tricks useful. Here are some more that may help you in
your next baking adventure!
When baking something in the oven, it is important to cook it at the right temperature for the correct
amount of time. Baking something at the wrong temperature can undercook or overcook it. Baking
something according to their correct cooking time will also play a role in whether your dessert is
undercooked or overcooked. When there is a gap of time for the recommended cooking time, always
start with the lowest amount of time. If you are baking a cake, it is easier to start with the shortest
baking time and have to put it back in the oven to cook for longer. Remember, you can always cook
something for longer, but you cannot go back and un-cook something. Also, make sure to test your
cakes to make sure that they are cooked all the way through by sticking an object such as a toothpick
to make sure it comes out clean. A clean toothpick means that it is done and a toothpick covered in
batter means it is undercooked.
Another quick tip is if you do not have a piping bag to decorate cakes or cupcakes, you can use a
zip-lock bag. You can make a simple design by cutting off the tip of a corner of the bag. In order to
make a fancier, more complex design, such as flowers or stars, you can use a tip. Tips range in size to
make the design larger or smaller and different shapes to make multiple patterns.
Stay tuned for more tips on baking. Once you feel comfortable in the kitchen and master the basics, I
will walk you through step by step on how to make a simple dessert.
